Steph’s Top Spring 2014 Songs

The ninth post for our #2014BloggerChallenge is all about music.  At the end of summer I recapped by Top 5 Songs of Summer 2013 it was such a fun post, so I thought I’d do something similar for this spring. In fact, I’m kind of in denial it’s already May!?! {Where in the world did March and April go?}Here are my top 5 favorite songs right now…

5. Happy by Pharrell Williams – I’m on the fence about this song.  I like it, it puts me in a good mood every time I hear it.  My biggest gripe is that it’s just so overplayed!  Overplaying songs totally ruins them for me.

4. Merry Go ‘Round by Kacey Musgraves– My list always has one anomaly, and this is it for this list.  I think it’s the only country song I’m listening to right now (but I do have a few favorite country songs stockpiled for when I’m in the mood; let me warn you it’s an eclectic collection) Anyway, I like this song! I heard it for the first time while watching the Grammys.  Man, Kacey caught a bunch of flak on the internet for her outfit, but I absolutely loved the entire thing.  Downloaded the song that night and have been listening to it ever since!

3. Sing by Ed Sheeran – This song is different, and I think that’s what I like about it. It doesn’t sound like everything else that’s playing right now.  Ed Sheeran has a really unique voice and the lyrics are quirky both of which make this a fun song.  I’ve noticed it’s been playing a lot lately on the radio, I’m worried this one might quickly get overplayed, and subsequently old.  For now, I’ll enjoy it though!

2. Ain’t it Fun by Paramore– I’m so into this song right now.  It is my jam.. I love the beat, I love the lyrics, I love to turn it up and sing along.  The biggest surprise to me is that I’m not usually a Paramore fan.  In fact, I can’t think of another one of their songs that I like, but this one just may have won me over!

2014 Blogger Challenge: week 7 – A day in my life

The seventh post for our #2014BloggerChallenge is to share a day in our life, with pictures.  So yesterday,  April 1st I documented my day from start to finish.  I tried to take a picture of what I was doing every hour to kind of give you a glimpse into my life!

photo 57:15a:my alarm goes off around this time every week day. I usually turn it off and spend a few minutes lying in bed checking my email, facebook, instagram etc… What I check depends on how lazy (and unmotivated) I am that morning. I like to procrastinate getting up. {ps- you are welcome I spared you the first thing in the morning selfie! It was not a pretty sight}

2014 Blogger Challenge: week 6

The sixth post for our #2014BloggerChallenge is all about food!  I recently stumbled upon this awesome recipe , and when G told me it was the “best meal I had ever cooked” I almost fell out of my chair.  Naturally, I had to commemorate the occasion with a facebook post– and many of my friends asked for the recipie!  So I figured, maybe you guys would like the recipie as well!   This meal is pretty easy, honestly the hardest (and most time consuming part) is slicing the beef and the peppers.  Once that’s done you’re ready to rock and roll!

Warning: This dinner definitely has some heat to it.

If you aren’t a spicy food person, this might not be the dinner for you Continue reading

2014 Blogger Challenge: week 3

The topic for the third post of the #2014BloggerChallenge was all about books!  I started writing like three different posts and trashed them all because even though I love reading, I’ve been so bad about making time for it recently!  I have two half finished books that I can’t seem to find the time/drive to finish. I was going to skip this post (we were supposed to post it at the beginning of the month – sorry it’s late!) Anyways, I finally actually have something to write about on the topic.   Not sure if I blogged about it, but G bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas, and it’s been sitting collecting dust (not because I don’t love it, but because I’ve been so busy!)  So I decided, it had to come with me to Hawaii.  I also had been wanting to start this new book series that I think everyone under the sun has probably ready already.. but seeing as I live under a rock, I have not!

2014 Blogger Challenge: week 1

The topic for the first post of the #2014BloggerChallenge is going to share a quote or picture as our “New Years Inspiration.”

Here’s mine:

It’s so easy to feel pressured into saying  y e s .  I’m a serial over committer and this is something I’m really going to be working on in the new year.  Sometimes I say y e s because I feel pressured to,  sometimes it’s things I genuinely want to do but I just don’t have time for.  My hand automatically shoots up when someone asks for a volunteer.   Then I get into situations like this summer- where I had an event for my sorority Wednesday, G’s birthday on Thursday, our engagement party Friday {that I had to prepare all the food for}, and my sister’s graduation party on Saturday.. it was pure insanity!   Somehow I always seem to manage to get everything done, but it majorly stresses me out in the process.  I’m also guilty of saying  y e s  to others even when it means saying  n o  to myself, and this is a habit that needs to stop this year.  I need to be better about making quality  time for me.

I hope in 2014 you’ll join me in saying  y e s  to yourself!

A few weeks ago I stumbled across Gaby at Another Girly Blog.  She’s hosting the #2014BloggerChallenge.  Basically, the challenge is to write two blog posts a month on specific topics which Gaby is going to provide.  Since I’m still new to the blogging world, and sometimes I struggle with posting regularly (maybe you’ve noticed my last post was over TWO weeks ago.. oops!) I thought this would be the perfect challenge! Plus, I’m hoping it will push be to blog about more creative topics that are maybe even a bit outside my comfort zone.  This is also exciting because Gaby is from across the pond as are many of the over 350 other participants! I’m so excited to connect with bloggers from all over the world, and hope you’ll enjoy joining me on this journey!
