{ one } Fall TV

I am so glad that Fall TV is starting back up! I was getting bored with my summer DVR list..  Don’t get me wrong, I love the Real Housewives, but I usually like shows that involve interesting plots not just mindless drama.  Here are a few of the shows I’m most excited to get watching this fall…

Criminal Minds (CBS),   Greys Anatomy (ABC),   Scandal (ABC),   and The Walking Dead (AMC).

My friends are obsessed with Homeland, so I might try and get up to speed on that show.  Also, everyone seems to talk about Downton Abbey so I think I’ll give that one a whirl as well.  Anyone else excited for fall TV? Any good recommendations?

{ two } Trying New Recipes

Last night I made Skinnytaste’s Cheesy Jalapeño Popper Baked Stuffed Chicken.. it was SO good and perfect for fall!  I love giving new recipes a try, especially when they’re as big of a hit as this one was.  We like spicy food, so I left the seeds in the jalapeños but I think you could make this a bit milder by removing them. It was so cheesy and gooey! Ahh… I wish I made enough for leftovers!  Anyway, if you’re looking for a  new chicken recipe and you don’t mind a little heat I highly recommend giving it a try!

Our Venue

I’m bursting with excitement this morning to share that we finally made our reception venue official last night! When we visited the Schaumburg Golf Club, G and I both just knew it was where we were going to have our reception!

The space just ‘feels’ right! I love the neutral colors, high ceilings, the natural light.. Oh and the views of the golf course don’t hurt either!

As an added bonus it has a great lobby outside the ballroom for cocktail hour, and a nice outdoor patio area for our guests to enjoy.

I love the space during the daytime, but seeing these pictures with the uplighting for nighttime makes me giddy.  This is exactly what I’ve been picturing, and I’m so excited to party here with all of our friends and family!

Now that this is booked, I’m going to take a few months off wedding planning.. it’s my busy season at work.  After January 1st I’m going to start contacting other vendors to finalize those decisions.  I’m so pumped to really get into the planning!

Scarf Swap 2013

Last month, I noticed one of the blogs I like to read The Tichenor Family was doing something super fun, that I immediately knew I had to get in on it.. a scarf swap!  This is actually the fifth year Meredith is hosting the scarf swap, and I’m so happy I got to join in on the fun this year.

We were randomly paired up, and I was lucky enough to be paired with Gina from Blessed Lane.  She mentioned to me that she had been wearing a lot of blue and green lately so I started looking everywhere for the perfect scarf.  I’ll admit, I was a little nervous, because I wanted to be sure to get one she would like, and I struggle buying gifts for people I know.. let alone someone who I’d never met before.   I was out shopping with a friend and came across not one, but two scarves that I loved! I couldn’t decide- so I just got them both! Continue reading

The Big Chop

This summer was hard on my hair. By August it was seriously a hot mess. I spent a lot of time in the sun, pool, and lakes and this definitely didn’t help my cause (but it did make for a fun summer!)

I have been making a conscious effort to grow it out for the last few years and this summer was the longest it’s been since I was a kid. It was also a huge pain to maintain. Fun fact: I have a LOT of hair but its not really thick.. I just have so much of it. It’s also got a really weird texture. Some parts are curly while other parts barely have a wave. It took forever to style.

For the past few months it seemed like the hair at the nape of my neck was in a perpetual knot. So I finally decided to bite the bullet and get it cut. I also knew this was going to be one of my last chances before the wedding to take off some serious length so I told my stylist to go for it!
